• Isla Contoy: A Jewel in the Mexican Caribbean

Just 30 km north of Isla Mujeres, this small island, with a length of 8.75 km and an average width of 500 m, and an area of 230 hectares, has been protected by the Mexican government since 1961 and declared a national park in 1998. Known as "The Bird Island," it has the Ixlaché reef to the south, part of the second-largest reef system in the world.

The word "Contoy" has two possible origins: from the Mayan words Kom (low or sheltered) and To´oy (shelter), associated with the shallow waters surrounding the island that offered refuge to sailors; or from the word Pontó, which in Mayan means Pelican.

Supervised ecotourism and regulated commercial fishing are allowed on the island under the supervision of the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (CONANP) and the organization "Friends of Isla Contoy A.C." Thanks to these efforts, the island's ecosystems remain untouched.

The island is also a sanctuary for 152 species of tropical seabirds, such as frigates, brown pelicans, sea swallows, cormorants, etc., which share the ground with 14 species of reptiles.

Due to nutrient-rich waters, lobsters, octopuses, shrimp, and large whale sharks are found every year. A total of 234 fish species have been documented.

• Departure from Cancun in the morning.
• Visit to Playa Norte to enjoy breakfast and relax on one of the best beaches in the Mexican Caribbean.
• Exploration of a special snorkeling area with a great variety of fish and marine life.
  Transfer by tender boat to Isla Contoy.
• Snorkel in another reef area rich in fauna upon arrival to Isla Contoy.
• Visit the museum, the lagoon and the highest part of the island.
• Isla Contoy is a protected natural paradise and a refuge for diverse species of marine birds. It has a unique biodiversity and beautiful natural landscapes.
• Free time at Isla Contoy beach, where only a maximum of 200 people per day are allowed to enter. You will enjoy crystal clear waters, white sand and a quiet and exclusive atmosphere.
• Return to the yacht with a succulent lunch prepared by the chef on board.
• Continuation of the tour to Isla Mujeres to enjoy the best sunset in the area.

• Dock Fee: Costs $15 USD per person and must be paid before boarding directly at the marina. 
• Service and maintenance: Cost 10% from the price of experience. Payment is required before boarding, directly at the marina.
• Transportation: Private transportation from your hotel to our marina is not included. We recommend checking with one of our agents in advance for round-trip cost information for your group. 
• Tender Boat: This service costs $1000 USD for up to 12 people and provides access to Isla Contoy National Park.
